Anabasis Construction

Custom Homes · Renovations · Additions — Northwest Arkansas

Thoughtful construction.
Refined craftsmanship.
Built with care.

Anabasis Construction helps Northwest Arkansas homeowners plan and build custom homes, renovations, and residential projects with clear communication, honest guidance, and craftsmanship that respects your home, your budget, and your vision.

What We Do

Residential construction, planned properly.

Every service starts the same way: a real conversation about what you want, what it should cost, and whether it's worth doing. Here's how we can help.

01

Custom Homes

For homeowners building on their own lot or one we help you find. We plan around how you actually live — sightlines, light, storage, comfort — before the first shovel of dirt moves. The first step is a consultation and a feasibility conversation about your lot and budget.

02

Renovations & Remodeling

Kitchens, baths, and whole-home renovations — with honest guidance about which changes genuinely improve daily life and resale, and which just cost money. We start with a walkthrough of your home and a scope conversation.

03

Additions

More room without moving — additions planned to match your home's structure, proportions, and neighborhood, not bolt-ons that look like afterthoughts. The first step is a site review and preliminary budget range.

Preconstruction & Feasibility

Not sure yet? This is where smart projects start. Lot evaluation, market and budget analysis, scope planning, and design coordination — so you know what's realistic before committing to construction.

Why Anabasis

Care is our competitive advantage.

You talk to the owner

No account managers, no telephone chains. The person planning your budget and walking your framing is the person who answers your call.

Planning before building

Most construction problems are planning problems in disguise. We resolve scope, budget, and decisions on paper — where changes are cheap — before they reach the jobsite.

Honest budget conversations

We'll tell you when the premium option is worth it — and when it isn't. Craftsmanship where you'll feel it daily, practicality where you won't.

Respect for your home and street

Clean job sites, protected floors, considerate scheduling, and crews your neighbors won't mind seeing. How we work says everything about how we build.

About the Owner

Meet Josiah Scates.

"I founded Anabasis Construction because homeowners deserve a construction experience built around clear communication, honest guidance, and craftsmanship that lasts."

Anabasis is a family-run company based in Prairie Grove. Before any project begins, we do the homework — studying lots, budgets, and neighborhoods block by block — because a well-planned project is the only kind that finishes well. That planning-first discipline is the foundation of how we build.

When you work with Anabasis, you communicate directly with me at every stage: planning, budget, construction, and closeout. My name is on this work, and I treat every home like it's in my own neighborhood — because around here, it usually is.

— Josiah Scates, Owner

The Anabasis Promise

What we owe you on every project.

  • The truth about cost. A real budget before we start, and a straight answer the moment anything threatens it.
  • Decisions in writing. Scope, selections, and changes documented — so there's never a "we never agreed to that."
  • A clear change-order process. If something changes, you'll see the cost and schedule impact before work proceeds — never after.
  • Craftsmanship you can inspect. Walk any stage of the work with us — we hold quality checkpoints before anything gets covered.
  • Guidance, not upselling. If a cheaper path serves you better, that's the one we'll recommend.
  • Respect for your home and street. Tidy sites, considerate scheduling, and crews we'd welcome into our own houses.
  • A phone that gets answered. During your project and after it. Our name is on this work.

How It Works

A process built to remove uncertainty.

Most people have never hired a builder before — and the industry doesn't make it easy. Here's exactly what working with us looks like, start to finish.

  1. 1Initial Consultation

A no-pressure conversation — by phone or in person — about what you're imagining, your rough budget, and your timeline. You'll leave knowing whether the project is realistic.

  2. 2Site or Property Review

We walk your lot or home, looking at the things that quietly drive cost: slope, drainage, access, structure, and utilities. No surprises later that were visible now.

  3. 3Scope & Preliminary Budget

A written scope and realistic budget range — before design money is spent. We'll flag where costs are most likely to move and what decisions drive them.

  4. 4Design & Preconstruction

Plans, selections, and engineering coordinated with decision deadlines that protect your schedule. The goal: every expensive decision made on paper, not in the field.

  5. 5Proposal & Agreement

A clear written proposal: scope, price, allowances, schedule, and how changes are handled. You'll understand what you're signing — we'll walk every line with you.

  6. 6Construction & Progress Updates

Regular updates on schedule and budget, quality checkpoints at every stage before work gets covered, and a clean, organized jobsite your neighbors won't resent.

  7. 7Final Walkthrough & Closeout

A detailed walkthrough together, a punch list completed promptly, and your documentation package. Then a phone that still gets answered after we're paid.

Common Questions

Answers before you even ask.

What areas do you serve?

All of Northwest Arkansas — Fayetteville, Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale, Bella Vista, Cave Springs, Centerton, Lowell, Prairie Grove, Farmington, Siloam Springs, and nearby communities.

What types of projects do you take on?

Custom homes, renovations, remodels, additions, and preconstruction planning. If you're unsure whether your project fits, a quick phone call will sort it out.

How early should I contact a builder?

Earlier than you think — ideally before you buy a lot or finalize plans. The cheapest problems to fix are the ones caught during planning, and early feasibility review is one of the most valuable things we do.

Do you help with plans, design, engineering, and permits?

Yes — we coordinate design, engineering, and permitting as part of preconstruction, and we're glad to work alongside an architect or designer you've already chosen.

Can I use my own architect or plans?

Absolutely. We'll review your existing plans, flag anything that affects cost or constructability, and build from them.

How is the preliminary budget developed?

From a written scope, current local costs, and your site's specifics — not a generic square-foot number. We'll also tell you which parts of the budget are firm and which could move, and what decisions control them.

How are change orders handled?

In writing, before the work happens. You'll see the cost and schedule impact of any change and approve it first — no surprise invoices at the end.

How often will I get updates during construction?

On a regular schedule you can count on, plus immediately whenever something needs your decision. You'll always know where the project stands, and you talk directly with the owner.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope — a renovation and a full custom home are very different animals. What we commit to: a realistic schedule up front, honest updates when anything shifts, and no schedule promises we can't keep.

What happens during the first consultation?

We listen. You tell us what you're imagining, we ask questions about how you live, your budget comfort zone, and your timeline — and we give you an honest read on feasibility. No pressure, no obligation, no fee.
